GFR Calculator

Estimate your glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) to assess kidney function. Uses the CKD-EPI 2021 creatinine equation recommended by the NKF/ASN Task Force.

Standard blood test result. Typical: 0.6–1.2 mg/dL for men, 0.5–1.1 mg/dL for women.

FAQ

What is GFR?

Glomerular Filtration Rate measures how well your kidneys filter waste from the blood, expressed in mL/min/1.73m². Normal is ≥ 90 for young adults.

What equation is used?

The CKD-EPI 2021 creatinine equation, which does not use race as a variable. It was recommended by the NKF/ASN Task Force as the standard equation for estimating GFR.

When should I be concerned?

An eGFR below 60 sustained for 3+ months may indicate chronic kidney disease. A significant drop from previous results also warrants medical attention. Always discuss results with your healthcare provider.

What affects creatinine levels?

Muscle mass, diet (especially meat intake), hydration, and certain medications can affect serum creatinine levels, potentially making eGFR estimates less accurate.
