A "healthy weight" is generally defined as a weight that corresponds to a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18.5 and 25. This range is associated with a lower risk of weight-related health conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.

The overweight range (BMI 25–30) and obesity threshold (BMI > 30) are also shown for reference.

BMI-based weight ranges do not account for body composition (muscle vs. fat), age, sex, or ethnicity. Athletes with high muscle mass may fall outside the "healthy" range despite being healthy.
